Dolphins Mistake with Tua Tagovailoa
The Dolphins mistake with Tua Tagovailoa is that the longer they wait to sign a quarterback they seem unsure about, the more expensive he is getting. Plus, other free agents are watching how they treat their players and despite all the trappings of South Beach, future players and agents will steer away from Miami.
While the Dolphins have delayed attention toward their quarterback’s contract, the Lions and Jared Goff agreed to a deal that pays 53 million dollars a year and the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence agreed to 55 million dollars a year.
So, is Tua worth 56 or 57 million dollars a year? Tua says the “market is the market.” The Dolphins don’t seem to think he is worth that much. Here’s the problem: Tua’s stats are way better than Lawrence’s. And he’s won more games. So what gives?
Either the Dolphins don’t think Tua is that good or they are afraid of his injury history. The latter is a fair point. But that’s the concern with every high priced player. Eventually, you just have to roll the dice and sign your guy.
DOLPHINS MISTAKE WITH TUA
Soon, Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill will start chirping about his contract. This will reinforce any perception among other league players that the Dolphins don’t pay players and they will look elsewhere for employment. The Dolphins mistake with Tua will cause future problems. For more on the Dolphins and the rest of the NFL, tune in each weekday from 2-6 to Craig Shemon and Company on ESPN Southwest Florida.
