It was a wild night in Key West, where a young man decided to embrace his inner fruit and don a banana man costume. But it wasn't just the fruity attire that caught the attention of the local police. No, it was his decision to relieve himself on the sidewalk that turned him into the latest spectacle in town.
According to The Smoking Gun, a guy dressed as a banana was in a hurry to answer nature's call, right next to a row of porta potties. Talk about missing the obvious! Our Banana Man, Kyle Mortimer, a student at the University of Miami and a son of Massachusetts, found himself in quite a situation.
So when did he slip up? When the law enforcement enters the scene. Officer Michael Chaustit, responding to a call about a "white male in a banana costume" in a rather compromising position, had to act fast. But Kyle, in his banana suit, was no easy catch.
Banana Man:
Fleeing towards the bustling Duval Street, Mortimer embarked on an intense pursuit. The police didn't give up easily, though. They grabbed him by the "peel," and it seemed like it was game over for the slippery banana. However, Mortimer was not ready to be mashed.
A leg sweep by Chaustit finally brought the rogue banana to the ground. Yet Mortimer wasn't ready to accept his fate. He put up a valiant fight, "interlacing his fingers and holding them tightly together," in an attempt to defy his impending handcuffs.
After a rather unconventional chase, Mortimer was apprehended and led away in front of the Smokin' Tuna Saloon. To make this story, even more bananas...He even posed for his booking photo, still dressed as a banana.
Now, Mortimer is set for a date with justice. He's been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both only misdemeanors. So no need for this banana to "split" town... Get it?
VIDEO: Florida Man Becomes Shark Bait While Fishing
Here in Florida a lot of people head out on the water hoping for a big catch, but one Florida man became shark bait while fishing.
Fishing here in Florida is a popular recreational activity. In Fort Myers and Cape Coral alone, there's so many places to go. Whether it's fishing from shore or heading out for a deep sea adventure. A day on the water is always a good idea. And it's made even better if you come home with a good haul. I grew up fishing, so when I moved to Florida, I was thrilled that I could do it year-round. My backyard is a big pond, so even just stepping out and throwing in a line is fun and relaxing.
Usually fishing is a pretty tame activity. However, one Florida man had a shocking encounter last week at Everglades National Park. The man, just identified as Nick, was out with a group of friends Friday morning in Florida Bay. The fish were biting and everything was fine, until it wasn't. Nick had bent over the side of the boat to wash his hands and to his surprise, a lemon shark came and bit him, pulling him off the boat and into the water.
Thankfully, the group of friends were able to get Nick back on the boat and back to the dock where a ranger initially treated him. The Daily Mail reports he was then airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center and treated for an undisclosed injury.
Much like you hear when getting on a ride at Disney, here's a good thing to remember: Always keep hands and feet inside the boat.
