Wow... just wow. Jimmy Butler has always marched to the beat of his own drum. Most of the time that beat is going at teammates for not playing up to his expectations. This is the reason he was let go of Chicago, Minnesota, and Philadelphia. Jimmy and Miami are a perfect match. "Heat Culture" is real, and Jimmy Butler is the perfect embodiment of the culture created on South Beach. Jimmy's new look is not what comes to mind when thinking South Beach style. In fact, it doesn't give off NBA style at all as Jimmy Butler rocks a new look. This look is so out-of-the-box that teammate Bam Adebayo couldn't contain himself during a photo shoot.
So this is clearly not a look that Jimmy is keep throughout the season. In the video above Jimmy tells Bam "I've got to say in character". Even if this is the new look for Jimmy Butler, he won't be able to rock the full look on the court. The NBA prohibits players from wearing jewelry in games. I can't imagine a lip stake would be allowed on the court. Jimmy didn't just put this look out there for the photo shoot. Jimmy Butler rocks new look going into the arena for media day with the Miami Heat.
You are correct Jimmy... very emo indeed. I think that jacket he is rocking is supposed to be a full length jacket, not one that stops at the knees. However Jimmy is 6'7", and probably the tallest person to ever wear this emo brand. Whatever the reason that Jimmy Butler rocks a new look, it is a win for all of us and the media that came out of it.
