Charlotte County Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia, Updates On Trash Collection
The Charlotte County Commission on Monday declared a local state of emergency due to Tropical Storm Idalia.
Charlotte County offices and facilities and Charlotte County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 29 and Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Fire & EMS stations will remain open. The Charlotte County landfill and mini-transfer and recycling facilities will remain open. Waste Management will perform collection for regular Tuesday and Wednesday customers.
Additionally, Charlotte County is reminding contractors to Secure or remove all loose items or secure items stacked on roofs that could become projectiles in high winds. Secure or remove all construction debris on job sites.
Tropical Storm Idalia is currently forecast to become a Category 3 hurricane, striking Florida north of Tampa. Since it's still around Cuba, it's always possible for that cone to change. It certainly did last year with Ian.
Tropical Storm Idalia closures and cancellations will continue to change.
We'll keep you up to date. I'm thinking the next change might be to trash collection.
