I knew it. I absolutely knew it. There are alligators in our Florida storm sewers. Video from the Florida city of Oviedeo, east of Orlando, has proved it.
Whenever I take my dog for a walk here in Estero, I taught her to make a wide berth around storm sewer drains. Our community doesn't have sidewalks, so we walk on the side of the road. I always tell her "watch for Ninja Turtles", and she swings wide around the storm drain. It's funny that she now does it without asking. Well, it's not the TMNT we're looking out for, I'm watching for alligators.
According to the City Of Oviedo administration " On May 5, a Stormwater crew was out at Lockwood Blvd near Riverside to investigate a series of potholes that have appeared in the roadway. The crew has a robot, which is a four-wheel robotic camera that can go into the pipes and investigate any anomalies under the roadway. They usually bring the robot out to inspect when there are potential roadway defects to see if any pipes have leaks, cracks, defects, etc.. underground. On Friday’s inspection, as you’ll see in the video, they came across a five-foot alligator!"
That's a 5 foot gator living in a storm sewer underneath a community. And that's why we don't play in storm sewers in Florida. There's alligators in storm sewers. Drew Barrymore knew it back in the 80's.
Southwest Florida City Named As The Best Place To Live In The US
I have lived in 4 cities in Florida and loved each of them differently. Tallahassee, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and now St. Petersburg. Which one did I like the best? I am loving St. Pete the most so far because there is a lot to do. None of the cities I lived in was named best place to live in the United States, but I did live near the one that is. And I did go to this Southwest Florida city a lot.

Can you guess which city in Florida was ranked number one for 2023? This particular Southwest Florida city was ranked last for affordability but #1 in Leisure & Entertainment and Healthcare. They held a major golf tournament shortly after Hurricane Ian. It's also the home of the Pickleball Championships, and probably the best burger I've ever had in my life.

Cambridge Ranked Number One In Education and Employment. Even though they are number 10 on the list, these are great reasons to move here.
