The Tampa Bay Lightning Trying Their Best To Imitate The Toronto Maple Leafs

Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA, FLORIDA – APRIL 24: Alexander Kerfoot #15 of the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrates a goal in overtime to win Game Four of the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on April 24, 2023 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

The Tampa Bay Lightning Trying Their Best To Imitate The Toronto Maple Leafs.  An absolute monumental collapse last night by the Lightning on their home ice as they fell in overtime 5-4.

Don't worry Lightning fans, history has proven that you have Toronto right where you want them.  The old cliché, "it's never over till it's over" has never been more applicable.

Now, most of you know that I have been talking about Toronto's history of not being able to get out of the first round let alone compete for the Stanley Cup in quite some time.

But what happened last night on Twitter/TNT and my reaction didn't go over to well with the Toronto faithful.

What Happened on TNT?

During the intermission on Monday night between the 3rd period and overtime, TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette had this very objective take.

I don't usually do this, but I took to Twitter and specifically at TNT's account and went off on how unprofessional it was for "Bizz" to go off in such an unprofessional manner including cussing a couple of times.

Here is a link to some of the reaction I got.  Including one meme that appeared to insinuate taking me out. LOL.

Let me say this, Bizz is terrific on  Barstool Sports hockey podcast Spittin' Chiclets.  I enjoy his passion and the entire panel on that show.  But when you are on national TV, it's a different platform than your podcast and you have to realize that.

Also, Bissonnette is credited with the worst take in podcasting history when he claimed that the Boston Bruins would miss the playoffs in the 2022-23 season. The Bruins would go on to break the NHL record for wins and points in a season.

Bizz didn't play for Toronto, he played for Pittsburgh and Arizona.  Some nitwit Toronto fans tried to point this out to me even though I never mentioned any team he played for.  My comments had nothing to do about the team or the great comeback the Maple Leafs made to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

It was about his unprofessional diatribe on national TV that clearly made his colleagues uncomfortable.

One Last Word From Pete on the Tampa Bay Lightning

If that Bizz commentary last night had been replaced by someone who went off on Tampa Bay like he did how would all these Toronto fans react?

I'm all for his passion and for any broadcaster on their respective "flag ship" stations.  Nothing wrong with trying to root for your teams to win.  But you have to be even a little objective.

I know on many of the national networks there are certain prejudices against certain teams and players.  I'm not talking race here but pure hatred due to rivalries. It's reflected time and time again in the four major sports.  I could give you numerous examples but most of you know them already.

Bizz, when you are on national tv, passion is fine but what you did last night was completely ridiculous, unprofessional and cringe worthy on that platform.  You have to realize your audience.  It's a different one from your highly successful podcast.

I got reaction last night from people as far away as Australia.  The best part is they all think I'm a huge Tampa Bay Lightning fan.  Ooops.  Bizz could have done what he did about the Bruins or any other team and I would feel the same way.

Toronto fans though can't seem to get over the fact that my comments had nothing to do with their team or the current game.  It was specifically about what I deemed an unprofessional and uncomfortable spot by Bizz.

Don't worry Toronto fans, you might finally get out of the first round for the first time since 2004.  Enjoy it while you can because you won't beat the Bruins "if" you should make it to the next round.

Florida High School Seniors Are Bringing Actual Live Goats To The Prom

This is really happening and we have Tik Tok video evidence to prove it. Florida High School Seniors and Class of 2023 Prom attendees from around the country are jumping onto this trend. It looks like it got it's start in West Palm Beach, Florida. And it's not just having your prom pictures taken with a goat. Bringing that goat to prom. Well, maybe not in the building. But the pictures do look amazing. So why bring a goat to prom? It all goes back to Michael Jordan.

Jordan is widely known as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time). This year's Seniors are the class of 2023. Jordan wore the number 23, hence a graduating class calling itself the GOAT. And although their logic may seem a bit of a stretch, they are committed to it. JerMarcus Askew of West Palm Beach, Florida's Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, told The New York Post “I brought a goat to prom because I’m known in my city for being the greatest when it comes to fashion and photography. And I wanted to show everyone that I really am the greatest of all time.”

Florida High School student JerMarcus rented the goat named Naija from a local farmer for $100. And although they look amazing together, he didn't bring the goat into the venue.

I'm loving this trend

There's farms all over this part of Florida so if you want to jump in on this trend for prom, make some calls. But if you're gonna do it - do it big. Class of '23. year of the GOAT.
