The Aaron Rodgers watch continues for the New York Jets and their fans

Aaron Rodgers

The Aaron Rodgers watch continues for the New York Jets and their fans.  Tick, tick tick tick tick tick!  LOL.  Can you hear that Jets fans?  In the words of the great Vince Lombardi: "What The Hell Is Going On Out Here?"

I made this analogy the other day on the Shemon and Sheppard Show.  When Anakin Skywalker completed his journey to the Dark Side of The Force, you saw Yoda buckle for a couple of seconds due to the disturbance.  That's what Jets fans are feeling like now, and I don't blame you.

Green Bay and the Jets seem to be in a "Zone of Darkness"

Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy did not provide any definitive information on Tuesday about the status of trade negotiations involving Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

On Tuesday, Murphy in plain hockey terms, "deflected wide" any information regarding ongoing talks between Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and Jets GM Joe Douglas.

Murphy had made his comments about Aaron Rodgers and potential trade negotiations outside of Lambeau Field just before he boarded a bus for a five-day "Tailgate Tour" of Wisconsin to promote the team.

This was the first time Murphy had spoken publicly about the situation since Rodgers had made his intentions known on March 15.

What is the potential holdup of this Aaron Rodgers deal?

Compensation to the Packers.  Gutekunst has said recently that Green Bay is not demanding the Jets #13 overall pick in the upcoming draft on April 27th.  There were talks initially that the Packers were going to demand 2 first round picks.

The teams could still get a deal done before Round 2 begins the following day.  I'm not sure if Jets fans are going to make it to day 2 of the upcoming NFL draft.  Neither side has put a deadline on this deal being completed.

One More Pete Sheppard Nerdy Quote

Dr. Tolian Soran told Enterprise Captain Jean Luc Picard in the movie "Generations": "Aren't you beginning to feel time gaining on you?  It's like a predator, it's stalking you."  I feel like that quote can be applied to Jets fans.

I actually do believe that this deal will eventually get done.  I think.  I won't lie. I enjoy the anxiety and trepidation that all Jets fans have right now.  Most of you know my reasons.  Yes I know my Patriots have their issues as well, but well, you know the rest.

Talk soon kids!

RED ALERT LIV AND PGA

Red Alert LIV and PGA !  One of my favorite radio segments on the Shemon and Sheppard Show on ESPN Southwest Florida is RED ALERT every Tuesday at 3:30ish! That's where we put people, teams or situations on BLAST because they deserve to be ripped. (I also like the missile launch sound effects that Chris plays from the other side of the glass!)

Common targets are prima danna athletes who are unaware of their social surroundings. It is our duty to point out their public deficiencies.

Other targets can be coaches who make bonehead decisions or team owners and general managers who drive their fans nuts. It is our job to set the world straight, at least during our ten minute segment.

Since we've been doing this segment for a while, I also enjoy how the texters like to add their nominations to the list.  Add your Red Alert via text at 239-337-ESPN.

Also, in case you are new to the show, RED ALERT blasts do NOT have to come from the world of sports. In fact, as of late, we like to close the segment by ALWAYS blasting Russian President Vladimir Putin just because. However, I should note that our show goes to painstaking lengths to avoid divisive politics at all costs.

Red Alert LIV and PGA for starters! You made the list!  Let's see who else did!

So let's dial it up! Enjoy this week's RED ALERT!

1. JALEN BROWN

The Celtics star required 5 stitches after allegedly breaking a vase while watering plants. NBA players don't water plants. And if they do, they don't cut themselves to the degree that they need 5 stitches. There is more to this story.

2. NY JETS

It's mid April.  Aaron Rodgers is still a Packer and OBJ is now a Raven.  Panic time.

3. NBA PLAY-IN GAMES

I hate all play-in games.  They are stupid and I don't watch.  Let's just get back to the 8 seed getting beat by the 1 seed.  Thank you.

4. TIMBERWOLVES

Rudy Gobert punched a teammate.  Jaden McDaniels punched a wall.  What is going on here?

5. LIV AND PGA

Can't we just all get along??  The golf product is best when everybody plays together.  Exhibit A:  The Masters.  Jon Rahm had to earn his 4 stroke win vs. Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson. Otherwise, Sunday would have been a sleepy 5 stroke win over...Russell Henley.
