Iowa college player injured hitting home run, so Lakeland, Florida team carried her around the bases
Amazing story out of Lakeland, Florida where the Division II softball Spring Games are taking place. The Grand View(Iowa) softball team was down 4-1 last weekend to Southeastern University of Lakeland. It's the top of the fifth, two outs. Bases loaded. 1-0 count. That's when Kaitlyn Moses hit a grand slam to give the Vikings a 5-4 lead. As she rounded first she collapsed to the ground with an apparent lower body injury. According to the rules, she needs to be able to round the bases without assistance from her teammates. But the other team....
In an amazing display of sportsmanship, the team from Lakeland carried Kaitlyn around the bases.
Grand View ended up winning the game 7-4. NAIA rules state that teammates are not allowed to help move around the bases. Craig and Pete are unsure of the rules but we're not sure if what happened was within the rules, either. But it doesn't matter. What happened that day will stay with those women forever.
