3 Times A Charm For The Tampa Bay Lightning and Victor Hedman
Victor Hedman scored a crucial goal late in the game to help the Tampa Bay Lightning secure a win against the Boston Bruins. The victory also helped the Lightning tie a team record for most consecutive home wins. The game winning tally occurred with 6:31 left in the game. Tampa Bay has now won 11 straight at home.
Brayden Point’s pass for Steven Stamkos on a 2-on-1 misfired, but the puck came right to Hedman. His shot from the left circle beat Linus Ullmark after the Boston goalie was run over by teammate Brandon Carlo. That broke a 2-all tie.
Lightning Home History Made
The Lightning’s win over the Bruins helped them match the franchise record for most consecutive home wins. That record was previously set in the 2019-2020 season. Additionally, the win ended the Bruins’ six-game winning streak and also ended their run of seven consecutive road wins, showing that the Lightning were able to secure a hard-fought victory against one of the strongest teams in the league.
Brandon Hagel and Nikita Kucherov also scored for Tampa Bay, which defeated the Bruins for the first time in three tries this season. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 37 saves. Brad Marchand and Pavel Zacha had the goals for the Bruins, who fell to 38-6-4. Linus Ullmark stopped 32 shots.
The Lightning were able to score a goal early in the game by taking advantage of a power play opportunity. Hagel was left alone in front of the net and received a pass from Kucherov, he then beat Ullmark with a shot over the blocker which resulted in the first goal of the game and gave the Lightning an early lead.
The Lightning were able to take the lead early in the third period, 2-1, with a goal from Kucherov, which was set up by a faceoff win from Stamkos. However, the Bruins were able to tie the game shortly after with a goal from Zacha, who finished off a well-executed passing play.
