An Update on Tua

An Update on Tua

We haven't heard much from the Miami Dolphins following their post season loss to the Buffalo Bills. Miami Dolphins fans were hopeful Tua could get through the NFL's concussion protocol and play against Buffalo. But now it seems like that was never a real possibility. The parents of the Miami Dolphins franchise quarterback spoke with KHON-TV this week and gave us an update on Tua. Here's the clip:

Two Things to Digest

Two things to digest here. One is the Dolphins are committed to Tua, or at least that's what the family is saying publicly. The second you might have missed. Tua is still in concussion protocol. Fast forward to the 1:09 mark of the video. "He's still going through his protocol". Tua suffered his second documented concussion of the season on December 25th, and he's still not cleared?! Why is this not getting picked up by more outlets? That's some pretty earth shattering news for Fins Nation. As mentioned, Tua had 2 documented concussions this season. The first coming on Thursday night at Cincinnati on September 29th. He had to be stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. And there are many people who think he suffered one in week 3 against Buffalo. Although the team and league said that it was a back injury.

Dolphins Look Elsewhere?

The Miami Dolphins say they are committed to Tua long term. The Tagovailoa' s say they are committed to the franchise. But I have to wonder in an offseason where Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, and possibly Lamar Jackson are available, maybe the Dolphins start looking elsewhere for the long term answer at quarterback. I like Tua and I want him to succeed. However, is it worth putting his long-term health, and maybe even his life on the line? That's a question only Tua, the Dolphins, and the NFL can answer at this point.
