Nyheim Hines 1st TD Bet

Nyheim Hines 1st TD Bet

There was a Nyheim Hines 1st TD bet placed that is one of the most reckless bets of all time. FanDuel will tweet out some of their larger or more ridiculous bets for primetime games. Tonight they posted that there was an $88,720.23 bet for Colts RB Nyheim Hines to score the first touchdown in the game.

Perfectly Logical Bet

Now this seems like a perfectly logical bet (the theory, not the amount) to make. The Broncos don't score touchdowns, and Matt Ryan sucks. That only leave Hines to be the first TD scorer of the night, right? WRONG!!! This backfired in one of the most tremendous fashions I have ever seen. On the 3rd play of the night... this happened.

I'll say it again in case you missed it... the 3rd play of the night! I know some of you aren't great at math, but that is just 62 seconds into the game. Hines looked like a punch drunk boxer trying to get back to his corner before the ref noticed. Obviously we hope that Hines is okay and that the doctors do what's best by him- unlike how Tua's "back injury" was handled.

Back to the Bet

Now- back to the bet. Everyone should know that I do not unit shame. Your unit is your unit, and it's meaningful to you. And that goes both ways- smaller units, or very large units. My problem with this bet is the outrageous amount: $88,720.23. If you've got $88K to throw away, then go for it. In fact, more power to you. But if you have $88,000 to bet does the additional $720 really mean anything to you? And to take it a step farther, the 23 cents. It's not even a round payout should the bet actually hit. This is a longshot bet. sometimes they hit, but most of the time they don't. The very specific amount feels desperate. Hope for this dude's sake it wasn't his final $88,720.23. RIP Nyheim Hines 1st TD bets.
