Hurricane Ian Tuesday 11AM Update – The Cone Has Shifted South

Hurricane Ian

The models were showing this and the 11am Hurricane Ian Update has confirmed it. As can be seen, the path of the hurricane has shifted south. The new landfall projection is in the Sarasota-Venice area. This shift will definitely affect us here in Southwest Florida. Also, it means that the hurricane landfall will be much sooner. We're now looking at landfall at roughly 8pm Wednesday night. The storm has cleared Cuba as will continue intensifying before landfall. Checking the map for more warnings and watches you'll see an extension of those into neighboring states. Don't forget to top off your gas tanks. A lot of the gasoline we use comes from the port in Tampa bay. Any disruptions there could cause shortages statewide.
