San Antonio Spurs v Oklahoma City Thunder

With a shortened and pandemic-filled NBA season in the books, we count down the top 10 clutch shots of the season.

#10 Buddy Hield putback vs Nuggets (Dec. 23, 2020)

Game one of the shortened NBA season for the Sacramento Kings ended in a thrilling fashion after Harrison Barnes stole an inbound pass to Nikola Jokic, tried to hammer a transition posterizer over Will Barton only to miss the dunk and have Buddy Hield tip the ball back in just before the final buzzer sounded to start off the season with a W.

#9 Luguentz Dort corner three vs Spurs (Feb. 24, 2021)

When the time came to hit the big shot, the young Montreal native did not disappoint as Lu Dort had the final play of regulation off the inbound pass drawn up for him to take the corner three ball and he buried it.

#8 Jayson Tatum uses the glass vs Bucks (Dec. 23, 2020)

On the same night Buddy Hield had his game winner in Denver, Celtics All-Star forward, Jayson Tatum, went 1-on-1 with the reigning league MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, in the final seconds and buried this filthy step-back jumper to ice the game. The only question that remains is whether or not Tatum called bank.

#7 Cole Anthony pull-up three vs Timberwolves (Jan. 20, 2021)

After a missed free-throw by the Timberwolves was back tapped to Cole Anthony down by two with four seconds left, the rookie confidently pushed the ball up and casually stopped, popped, and nailed a fadeaway three at the buzzer to put the Magic on the high side.

#6 Terry Rozier’s deep two vs Warriors (Feb. 20, 2021)

One could argue that the best part about this clutch jumper by Terry Rozier wasn’t even the shot itself, rather the call by the overzealous Hornets play-by-play announcer, Eric Collins, who is known for his energetic commentary and acting like every game is Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

#5 Bam Adebayo mid-range vs Nets (April 18, 2021)

The big-man Bam came in huge on a Sunday afternoon against the Nets when he ran down the clock with the game tied, took his time, took a few dribbles, and drilled the mid-range jumper to ice the game.

#4 Luka Doncic prayer vs Grizzlies (April 14, 2021)

I’m sure Grizzlies fans are still in awe over this unreal floater from the three-point line by Luka Doncic. Seriously, how did he make this?

#3 Luka Doncic fadeaway vs Celtics (Feb. 23, 2021)

They don’t call him “Luka Magic” for nothing. Here was another ridiculous, Kobe-esque,  fadeaway dagger for three to end the Celtics from the young superstar, Luka Doncic.

#2 Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook SIX POINTS in FOUR SECONDS vs Nets (Jan. 31, 2021)

The Wizards took a page straight from Reggie Miller with this clutch sequence. After Bradley Beal hit a three with seven seconds left to make it a one possession game, Garrison Matthews stole the inbound pass from the Nets’ Joe Harris and passed it to an open Russell Westbrook who splashed the three for the win.

#1 Damian Lillard step-back dagger vs Bulls (Jan. 30, 2021)

If you Google the phrase “clutch basketball” and click images, number zero draped in Trail Blazers colors should pop-up. (Seriously, Google it now) Damian Lillard has never shied away from taking and making the last shot with the game on the line. This shot against the Bulls was just another game-winner to his resume and the most clutch shot of the 2020-2021 NBA Regular Season.
