Gov. DeSantis Lifts Children Visitor Ban In Florida Nursing Homes
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Thursday afternoon that Florida will lift visitor restrictions at long-term care facilities, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Floridians have been allowed to visit loved ones in long term care facilities with some restrictions since Sept. 1. Now DeSantis says facilities would be required to allow outdoor visits regardless of COVID-19 positive cases and there will no longer be a restriction on children visiting the facilities.
Also, compassionate caregivers will no longer be required to social distance, and the facility can decide a max number of visitors allowed that was capped at 5.
DeSantis also spoke about a self-swab rapid test that he hopes to introduce more into long-term care facilities.
