Gary Woodland Wins US Open By Three Strokes

There wasn't going to be a historic three-pete for Brooks Koepka as a new golf champion has been crowned at Pebble Beach.

Earning his first major career title, Gary Woodland won the 119th US Open on Sunday, going 13-under par, putting Koepka in second by three strokes.

The 35-year-old's victory kept the two-time defending champion from becoming the first player in over a century to pull off back-to-back-to-back sweeps.

Speaking of his performance, Woodland said, "I never let myself get ahead of myself. I never thought about what would happen if I won, what comes with it. I wanted to execute every shot. I wanted to stay in the moment. I wanted to stay within myself."
