According to Authorities Inmate Suspected of Planning David Ortiz shooting

According to the New York Post, a prison inmate in the Dominican Republic may have helped plan the assassination attempt.

Authorities are questioning José Eduardo Ciprian Lebrón, one of the six in custody about Sunday’s attack on Ortiz.

Investigators say that the suspects who shot Boston Red Sox's David Ortiz in the Dominican Republic over the weekend were paid roughly $7,800 U.S. dollars for the hit.

Six people are currently in custody and one suspect still remains at large in Sunday's shooting.

According to reports, one of the suspects; Rolfi Cruz is wanted for armed robberies in New Jersey.

Ortiz was shot in the stomach while at a nightclub. Ortiz is recovering from exploratory surgery and is expected to recover.

Alexandra, daughter of Ortiz posted a very touching heart-felt message this afternoon:

No motive is known for the shooting.
