Rory McIlroy “Greg Norman Needs to Go”

Rory McIlroy: "Greg Norman Needs to go"

The tension between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is still there. After the inaugural season for the rival tour to the PGA Tour, the tension between the two sides still remains. Rory McIlroy has been the most outspoken critic of the Saudi back golf tour. But he is not the only one. Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and even Tiger Woods have come out in opposition of LIV Golf. But it seems now that the two tours are trying to work out a working relationship. McIlroy spoke with reporters ahead of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, an event held in the Middle East where there is a not so great track record regarding Human Rights. They also hand out appearance fees in this tournament. Something Rory openly criticized when golfers left the PGA Tour in favor of LIV. The message from Rory McIlroy "Greg Norman needs to go."

Among the topics discussed ahead of the event, Rory McIlroy went as far to call Norman a child. "I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to exit stage left. He's made his mark, but I think now is the right time to sort of say, 'Look, you've got this thing off the ground, but no one is going to talk unless there's an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences." As a golf fan I am excited that there is an interest in the rival tours entertaining the idea of co-existing. But Rory is not the vessel to talk about this any more. He has been so outspoken about LIV that he can not be viewed as a neutral party in the matter. I agree with the overall point that Rory is making though. Rory McIlroy "Greg Norman needs to go"
