This time of year is hit or miss for many local farmer's markets and for many reasons. It's too hot for some produce as well as people. Songwriters 4 Vets

Songwriters from Nashville convene for this fundraising event. Money raised goes to Songwriters For Vets Foundation.  The main event is Saturday from 7-11pm, however, there is another concert Friday night featuring the Ben Allen Band. Broadway Hits With A Twist

This show features Broadway hits from some of your favorite and most iconic shows. However the twist is the perspective in which they are performed.  Male Broadway stars sing female tunes while the ladies sing male 11th-hour tunes. Saturday at 7:30. Tickets start at $39. More info here.

Granny Get-Down Cooked Food Competition

This is the 4th annual food competition to benefit the Dr. Piper Center in Fort Myers. Celebrating seniors is the heart of the event. Feeding the stomach is the mission as home cooks show off their skills for a panel of judges and those in attendance. Saturday 11am-1pm in Marian Hall at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. $20 More info here.

Cape Coral Farmer's Market

This award winning market is in Club Square off of 47th Terrace in downtown Cape Coral. You'll find all kinds of produce and other local food products. There are vendors selling flowers, jewelry and more. In addition, the market is known to have live entertainment. More info here.

Bonita Springs Pride Pageant

It's the first ever LGBTQ Pride Pageant in Bonita Springs. Contestants are competing for the titles of Mr. and Miss Bonita Springs Pride. The event is also a fund raiser for next months Pride celebrations. 2-6pm Sunday at Ceremony Brewing on Packinghouse Lane. $13. More info here.
