#4 Michigan Hosting Rival Michigan State Highlight College Football’s Best of The Rest For Week 9

Michigan State At Michigan

#4 Michigan hosting arch rival Michigan State highlight college football's best of the rest for week 9!  On Thursday, I posted 3 big games for tomorrow, here are a few more games and nuggets.

Michigan State at #4 Michigan, 7:30pm ABC

Since 2008, Michigan State is 10-4 against Michigan, which includes a 2-0 mark under Mel Tucker. He is the first Michigan State head coach to win their first two games against Michigan.

And while the Spartans are outside the AP Top 25 and the Wolverines are ranked No. 4, don’t count out Sparty when these teams square off this Saturday. Michigan State has 11 wins as an unranked team against ranked Michigan teams, the most such wins by one program over a single opponent in the AP Poll Era (since 1936).

For Michigan State to have any chance, the Spartans will have to stop the Wolverines run game, which ranks in the top-10 in rushing yards per game, yards per rush and rushing touchdowns.

They are led by Blake Corum, who has 666 rushing yards in his last four games. That is the most over a four-game span by a Michigan player since Denard Robinson in 2010. It is the most by a Michigan running back in a four game span since Mike Hart in 2004.

In addition, Corum has 13 rushing touchdowns, five of which came against UConn earlier this season, tied for the most in a game in school history. His 13 rushing touchdowns are the most through the team’s first seven games of a
season in Michigan history.

(9) Oklahoma State at (22) Kansas State, 3:30 ET Fox

Oklahoma State and Kansas State are currently tied for second in the Big 12 and both have already played and lost to first-place TCU. The winner of Saturday’s game will have the inside track to the conference championship game.

Oklahoma State QB Spencer Sanders has won 11 games vs AP-ranked opponents as a starter, 2nd-most among starting quarterbacks over the last five seasons. Joe Burrow has the most with 12.

(15) Ole Miss at Texas A&M, 7:30 ET on SEC Network

Jimbo Fisher Red Alert!  The Aggies lead the all-time series 9-4 and have won five of the nine meetings since joining the SEC. The Rebels snapped a three-game losing streak in the series last year with a 29-19 win behind 247 passing yards from Matt Corral and 152 rushing yards from Jerrion Ealy.

Ole Miss is 3rd in FBS – trailing only Air Force and Army – with 252 rushing yards per game. Texas A&M allows 179 yards per game on the ground, third-most in the SEC.

Ole Miss freshman Quinshon Judkins has scored 13 total touchdowns this season (12 rushing, 1 receiving), tied for second-most in FBS (only Pittsburgh’s Israel Abanikanda has more with 14). He’s second in the SEC with 831 rushing yards, 150 more than any other freshman in the nation.

Jimbo Fisher Fun Fact

Texas A&M has lost three straight games, its longest losing streak under Jimbo Fisher and tied for its longest skid since joining the SEC. The Aggies haven’t lost four straight games since dropping their final four games in 2005.
