When you think of the Sunshine State, you don't think of ice but there's an outdoor frozen ice skating rink at a hotel in Florida.
Thinking back to my childhood growing up in Chicago, ice skating was a huge part of our life. My dad would make an ice skating rink in our front yard every winter and it would be filled with all the neighborhood kids playing hockey and skating after school every day and through the night. I also have fond memories every year going into the city for the Christkindlmarket and a night of ice skating in Millenium Park.
And while I love living in Fort Myers and don't miss the cold even a little bit, I do miss some of those winter traditions. And if you, like me, want to revisit them, there's an outdoor frozen ice skating rink at a hotel in Florida.
There's An Outdoor Frozen Ice Skating Rink At A Hotel In Florida
While we don't have snow in Florida, The Ben Hotel in West Palm Beach has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Under the palms, the outdoor ice skating rink features festive lighting, music, and decorations that will make you feel like you've been transported to a faraway village. There's also a snack chalet and a Top Shelf Elf bar with drinks like hot cocoa and apple cider and festive cocktails.
According to a press release: "The rink will stay frozen thanks to a state-of-the-art refrigeration system developed by Ice America, using aluminum coils to continuously freeze the ice, ensuring a high-quality skating experience. Founded by a couple from Southern California, Ice America’s vision was to create a sustainable solution for real outdoor ice-skating in warm climates, and The Ben Hotel is proud to bring this experience to West Palm Beach."
The skating rink is open daily now through March 1. Ice skate rentals are available.
