Jayden Daniels is great! And the Washington Commanders rookie quarterback is just getting started. But Sunday he scrambled for 13 seconds on the game's final play vs the Chicago Bears and uncorked a 52 yard touchdown pass to Noah Brown to win the game. And while it was a 52 yard pass play, Daniels had scrambled backward to buy time and actually heaved the arching pass from near his own 35 yard line.
Oh, and did we mention he did all of this with a bruised rib? He wasn't supposed to play this weekend after suffering an injury last week!
JAYDEN DANIELS IS GREAT
Daniels was good enough to win the Heisman Trophy in college but nobody thought the #2 pick in the draft would make the pro game look this easy so early in his career. And this week he beat the #1 pick Caleb Williams. He's had other great games as well. In week 3 he out dueled Bengals quarterback and co-LSU alumni Joe Burrows by completing 21 of 23 passes. And it is scary for opponents to think Daniels is no where near his prime yet.
Now his Commanders sit at 6-2 and in first place in the NFC East. And next week they have a very winnable game scheduled vs the Giants. The truth is the East is up for grabs with the Eagles disarray and the Cowboys general mediocrity.
Do yourself a favor and watch the Commanders play. Jayden Daniels is great! The rookie will make you say, "Wow!" For more on Daniels and more NFL talk and analysis tune in each weekday to Craig Shemon and Company on ESPN Southwest Florida from 2-6pm.
