Man, talk about bringing home the bacon! Down in Miami, some dude thought it’d be a great idea to steal a trailer filled with a treasure trove of ambrosia, yo know… frozen bacon! Around $100,000 worth of it. And not just any bacon, according to WTVJ, it was 192 pounds of that cold, porky goodness sitting in the back of a 53-foot semi-trailer.
So here’s how this whole genius plan went down. Marcos Gonzalez-Bernal, a 40-year-old mastermind (I guess?), decided to swipe this big ol’ refrigerated trailer from a parking lot up in Daytona Beach. Now, I know what you're thinking, this guy ain’t exactly Ocean's Eleven material, because of course, there’s video. Surveillance footage showed him creeping around in his blue SUV, scoping out the scene like he was about to go for the big score. And he got it too.
Bacon Busted:
But he didn’t get away with it for long. Cops down in Miami used one of those fancy license plate readers and caught him driving that same blue SUV. And you already know that once they got to him, it didn’t take long to track down that trailer.
Now our pig lover is sitting in court. The judge slapped him with a $30,000 bond. Yeah, Marcos, you’re not getting out of this one with a slap on the wrist.
The real question I keep asking myself is this… What was his plan? I mean that was a lot of the good stuff. Was he trying to open up some underground bacon ring? Sell it off piece by piece at farmer’s markets? Who knows, man. But one thing’s for sure—stealing frozen pork? That’s gotta be the weirdest thing on anyone's rap sheet.
