Thanks to Crystal Head Vodka for sending me a free bottle to sample in exchange for an honest, non-biased review.
Halloween is one week away and the shenanigans are in full force. From costumes to party food to cocktails. In case you were looking for a cool addition to the latter, this is the perfect Vodka for Halloween parties and more.
It's Crystal Head Vodka and it's this week's Fabulous Find. There are so many things that make this vodka unique. Let's start at the beginning.
About This Vodka For Halloween
If you've been in Southwest Florida long enough, you might remember when Belushi's Comedy Bar opened upstairs in the former Dwyers Irish Pub in Fort Myers. It was 2014 and I was at the grand opening. Jim Belushi was there and rumor had it that his pal Dan Aykroyd would also be making a cameo.
Aykroyd is the founder of Crystal Head and Belushi's was among the first in the area to carry it. Aykroyd did not show but I made sure to try his eye catching spirit. It stands out on the shelf, a clear skull that is often backlit for presentation
Fast forward 10 years and I got ahold of a bottle. Is it as good as I remember? Yes. Yes it is.
Vodka For Halloween
There are a number of things that make this vodka different. First, the design by Aykroyd and John Alexander. The skull-shape is not suppose to be creepy but rather a symbol of life and enlightenment.
Next, the blend. The ingredients in the distillation of Crystal Head include, Canadian corn, English wheat, Blue Weber agave. It all comes together to create a really smooth vodka that has a touch of vanilla.
Vodka For Halloween Recipe
For your Halloween party, use it for martini's, over eyeball ice with with a slice of blood orange, or in this Crystal Cranberry Skull cocktail. It is pictured above. Here is the recipe.
- 1½ oz Original Crystal Head Vodka
- 1 oz Cranberry Syrup
- ½ oz Lime Juice
- Fresh Cucumber, Mint, and Cranberries

In a cocktail shaker, muddle two cucumber slices, 3-4 mint leaves and 4-5 cranberries. Add Crystal Head Vodka, cranberry syrup, lime juice and plenty of ice. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a mint and cranberry skewer.
Cheers. Enjoy this vodka for Halloween and all year long.
5 Frightfully Delicious Halloween Snacks
Have you started planning your Halloween party yet? Maybe you are attending a gathering and have been asked to bring an appetizer or spooky treat. Here are 5 frightfully delicious Halloween snacks to wow ghouls and goblins of all ages.
Halloween snacks range from simple ghost shaped cookies and tortilla chips to elaborate caldrons or crooks with dry ice pouring out. I have a friend who loves "blood themed" foods. She starts with a pot of red sauce.
It's simple because you can put anything in there and give it a spooky name. noodles become brain matter and ribs become werewolf bones. You get the picture.
It's a great excuse to get creative in the kitchen with food themes too. There are lots of ordinary sweet treats doctored up to look like eyeballs, severed fingers made with charcuterie, and so much more.
I'm not a fan of food coloring or food that looks gross but tastes great. However, that is the cornerstone for Halloween events. You will find a mixed bag here.

Cupcake Brains
Not sure I'm this good with frosting but I'd give it a try. It looks really cool and I bet it tastes good too.
Eyeball Charcuterie
I've seen this before but never tried it. This guy makes it look so easy. And it really does look nice on a charcuterie board or appetizers display too.
Bat Wings
This is one of those, looks gross but tastes great foods. I don't think I'll look at chicken wings the same again.
Mummyy Jalapeno Poppers
I LOVE this one. You can customize your poppers to the way you like them. How cute do these appetizers look?
Pumpkin Cheeseball
This has become a social media favorite. I tried something similar last year with pizza dough and pizza toppings as the filling. This looks even easier.
