A Flagler County dad took “Bad Dad” to the next level this past Saturday after getting arrested for attacking deputies. According to FOX35, it all started with a group of teens acting up at local Walmart. Wild and unruly kids running loose in Walmart may be the most annoying thing ever. One minute you're looking at the frozen peas and the next... Wham! You're hit with one of those plastic balls. Well, these kids were riding their bikes through the aisles, yelling at customers, cussing, and even setting off car alarms. Even worse, right?
When the deputies showed up, they found the kids nearby and started calling their parents to come pick them up. That's when things erupted. One of the parents, 34-year-old Jonah Harrington, came rushing in. But instead of just grabbing his kid and heading home like any sane person, Harrington decided to show his bad dad side and confront the deputies. And by “confront,” I mean he straight-up shoved one of them.
Bad Dad Gets Mad:
Now, most people might think, maybe that might not be the best idea. But not Harrington. When two more deputies stepped in to put him in handcuffs, he threw a punch at one and tried to make a run for it. Needless to say, he didn’t get far. After a short scuffle, they got the bad dad under control. Ya know, like he should of been with his kids.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly later had something to say about it, pointing out that maybe the kid’s behavior wasn’t all that surprising given the father’s bad dad actions. Instead of just picking up his kid like a responsible adult, Harrington’s first move was to get physical with the law.
Harrington now faces multiple charges, including three counts of battery on law enforcement and resisting arrest. He got to cool off for a while at the local jail before being released on bond. Hopefully, this bad dad learned his lesson. But if I was a betting man...
