5 Year Old Resuscitated After Heart Stops On Disney World Ride

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, where a 5 year old boy was resuscitated

If you've been to Disney World here in Florida, I'm sure you've noticed all the AED boxes located all over the park. Those can be used if a park guest needs to be resuscitated to bring their heart rhythm back to normal. Last weekend at Disney World one was needed after a 5 year old boy fell lifeless on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

Last Saturday, a family boarded the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at the Orlando, Florida theme park. According to the mom, less than 20 seconds into the ride, her 5 year old boy passed out and despite her efforts during the ride, she could not wake him.

At the end of the ride, the mother was screaming for help. The alert staff immediately directed them to a hallway where the mother began cpr on her young son. The staff also shocked the boy with an AED.

How the 5 Year Old Was Resuscitated

While the mother attended to her son, the father managed to find a nurse and an EMT - who continued cpr and kept the boy stable until the EMTs came and took the boy to the Emergency Room.

It was later discovered that the boy had a genetic heart disease, which presented itself at on the Disney World ride. This condition could have shown up at any time during the 5 year old's life, but the boy was resuscitated because it happened at Disney, where there's trained staff, a nearby AED, and other park guests willing to help. According to the mother, they had ridden the Guardians of the Galaxy ride many times before without incident.

The mother told the story of how her son was resuscitated on the Walt Disney World Tip and Tricks facebook page. Through the page they were also able to connect with the nurse and EMT who assisted with saving the boy's life, along with "cast members who were there, firefighters who helped on site and in the ER, Ambulance drivers and EMT, and Drs who were at our first ER."

Disney World AEDs

Disney World in Orlando, Florida has hundreds of AED devices at the park and in their hotels. Having one so close to the Guardians ride is what allowed the young boy to be resuscitated and his life saved. And I'm guessing the next time you're at Disney, you'll probably notice just how many of the boxes are at the park. This is why.

Three Year Old Florida Girl ‘Adopts’ Demonic Doll, Takes It To Disney World

Hold up, hold up. One more time. Three Year Old Florida Girl 'Adopts' Demonic Doll, Takes It To Disney World. Yep, that's what it says.

Florida Woman Britany Beard was shopping with her family at a Spirit Halloween Store when her 3 year old daughter Briar spotted the demonic doll. When reasoning with her mom, the three year old said “But I’m it’s mommy and it needs me!”

So what can a Mom do? They bought the doll at the Spirit store which Briar named Chloe. The family nicknamed it "Creepy Chloe". Briar's 8-year-old sister Belle didn't want anything to do with it, she's scared of the doll.

Despite the doll's horrifying appearance, 3 year old Briar insists on taking care of her 'baby' and dressing it up it princess outfits.

Mom Brittany explained their Disney World trip in a facebook post:

"Yesterday we went to Magic Kingdom and Briar insisted on dressing Creepy Chloe in a princess dress and bringing her along. Because creepy babies need Disney magic too I guess? So I dug out Briar’s Haunted Mansion cast member dress to carry through with the theme.

While eating breakfast at the Grand Floridian cafe, they brought out the cast member pastry chef to meet Briar and Creepy Chloe because apparently she loves all things spooky. She said she adored that Briar loved the doll and at the end of the meal, she suprised Briar with an amazing spooky cupcake and a mini handmade chocolate Haunted Mansion poster. It was actually really sweet!
Then we walked over to Magic Kingdom where Briar had a photoshoot with Creepy Chloe. The photographer was eating it up and kept coming up with posing ideas for Chloe. I’m sure it was quite a unexpected change from her usual never ending line of glittery Bippity Boppity Boutique princesses!
Then we of course ventured over to the Haunted Mansion. There was a 50 minute wait to get on the ride but when they saw Briar, they immediately whisked her away into the secret “Servants Quarters” where we got to see the keys to all rooms and the bells that ring to call the servants up. Then they popped us right out into the stretching room. The cast members were waiting for us when the doors opened to present us with official Haunted Mansion Caretaker certificates and to walk us right on to the ride. It was so magical!"
The family decided to document the adventures of Creepy Chloe and Briar on an Instagram page, which is now up to 5,975 followers, including my follow. It's been going so well that there's been an addition to the family....

A box from Spirit Halloween Store!

Her reaction is absolutely priceless. Now to get the new doll out of those dreary clothes and into a mermaid tail!
