Homework Horror: Florida Woman Beats Kid For Wrong Answers

A Florida woman was arrested for repeatedly punching a young girl over wrong homework answers, leaving the child with serious injuries

In West Palm Beach, Florida, a 35-year-old Florida woman, Margaret Gissome, got herself locked up for going crazy on a little girl just trying to do homework. Apparently, the girl, who was working with her siblings in Gissome's room, gave a wrong answer on an assignment, which caused Gissome to lose her cool.

According to WFLA, instead of helping with a simple correction, Gissome allegedly grabbed the child by the collar, shook her, and threw a punch. Not just any punch, though. A closed fist swing straight to the face. You’d think it would stop there, but no. When the kid messed up again, Gissome reportedly aimed right for the mouth. And she wasn’t subtle about it either—allegedly telling the child that she shouldn't worry about her lip because her nose was next on the list.

Homework Horror Story:

The whole thing sounds horrifying, like the worst kind of motivation for a kid to do better at their homework. The girl was left with some serious injuries, like a busted blood vessel in one eye, swelling in the other, and a bruised lip. It didn’t take long for a teacher to notice the red mark on her cheek, and that’s how this whole thing came to light.

What makes the situation crazier is that Gissome works in occupational care. A professional caregiver is out here delivering right hooks to kids over wrong homework answers.

She got hit with a felony child abuse charge and was tossed in the Palm Beach County Jail. The relationship between her and the girl? Still unclear. Maybe they’ll clear that up later, but for now, she’s got some time to think about how homework should never turn into a boxing match.
