Tonight's NFL season opener, Ravens vs Chiefs, could very well be a preview to the AFC Championship game at the end of the season. The Chiefs begin their quest to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls while the Ravens are almost always in the mix as one of the best teams in the league behind the 2023 regular season MVP Lamar Jackson.
Both organizations are steady. Andy Reid has been the head coach at KC since 2013 and has won three Super Bowls in that time. John Harbaugh has been the head coach with the Ravens since 2008 and won Super Bowl XLVII.
We already mentioned Lamar Jackson's reigning MVP status but the Chiefs are led by QB Patrick Mahomes who is viewed by almost everyone who watches football as the best player in the league.
Big picture, for those making predictions, the Chiefs are the target that all other teams are aiming for. Barring catastrophic injury to key players most will pencil the Chiefs into the AFC Championship game. They are the team to beat. But who will play them for the right to go to the Super Bowl? The Baltimore Ravens might be on the top of that list. They are a very good team that blew out a lot of good teams last year.
RAVENS VS CHIEFS
A healthy Joe Burrow could lead the Cincinnati Bengals back to the AFC title game. The Bills and Dolphins could be in the mix. Or how about the Texans or even the Browns? Regardless of the answer the journey for everyone starts tonight with Ravens vs Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.
