If you love getting your haunt on, Florida has one of the best and scariest haunted houses in America. Halloween is a super popular holiday, and it seems as if we're celebrating earlier and earlier every year. I'm not mad about it. I love Halloween but also love summer, so it's a bittersweet thing for me.

Florida Has One of the Best and Scariest Haunted Houses in the U.S.

The experts at Parade.com have put together a tally of the scariest haunted houses in the country. "It might be summer, but it's never too early to get excited for some haunts and thrills when fall comes around," they state. "Going to a haunted house—whether you go on Halloween night or in the days leading up to October 31—is a classic Halloween tradition, especially among teens and young adults."

Looking at some of the biggest and scariest spots in the country, Blood Manor in New York City is one to watch. The "massive 5,000-square-foot haunted attraction" features a bunch of themed rooms that are guaranteed to scare you silly. In California, a state known for their Hollywood scares, Reign of Terror Haunted House in Thousand Oaks is a top pick. This haunted attraction features more than 100 rooms. "So when you’re done with one room, you’ll be immediately transported to another haunted adventure," which makes it extra scary.

So, which Florida spot has one of the best and scariest haunted houses in America? It's the popular Scream-A-Geddon near Tampa. "Scream-A-Geddon in Tampa Bay offers six ghoulishly delightful attractions in one location," they explain. "They also have one attraction in 3D, a paintball attraction and a newly added beer garden."

If you head to Scream-A-Geddon's Facebook page, they're already gearing up for the new season. They're also looking for workers, so if scaring people is your thing, go for it. Also, if you're someone who's into "Summerween," which combines summer and Halloween, note that Scream-A-Geddon actually opens on Aug. 30. They start out being open weekends and then increase their schedule to include weekdays as Halloween draws closer. "Scream-A-Geddon is what happens when the best minds in the haunted house industry come together in Tampa Bay, Florida, to produce a premier haunted house experience," they state on their official website. "Located in Dade City, Florida, just minutes from Tampa and Orlando, Sream-A-Geddon is a Halloween horror park event like no other." Scream-A-Geddon is located at 27839 Saint Joe Road in Dade City. I have some friends who live right by there, so I'm definitely going to tell them to go and get their scare on.
