The 10 Best Fishing Towns In Florida: Ranked

Naples Florida fishing

There's no shortage of fishing towns in Florida. Places that really cater to sport fishers and enthusiasts alike. But thanks to a report by Fishingbooker, we're ready to declare a best - and it's a town in Florida that Taylor Swift knows all too well.

The criteria used to determine the best fishing towns in Florida and across the United States comes from ratings and reviews of over 100,000 trips. They are: Number of available fishing charters, average score, number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award, number of bookings, and minimum price of a fishing trip. Because some areas were dramatically altered by recent hurricanes, it's important to note that all of the above criteria were taken from the past year alone.

The 10 Best Fishing Towns In Florida: Ranked

So if you had to choose just one of the fishing towns in Florida to visit, which one would it be? Well, it'd be the one that Taylor Swift shouted out in her song Florida!!! Though I don't recommend a time share, real estate prices are still pretty steep. Here's the top 10, which includes 2 from right here in Southwest Florida.

  1. Destin
  2. Panama City Beach
  3. St. Petersburg
  4. Islamorada
  5. Key West
  6. St. Augustine
  7. Marathon
  8. Naples
  9. Crystal River
  10. Cape Coral

Destin has a lot of fishing charters, and because of it's location on the Florida Panhandle there's easy access to both the Gulf Of Mexico and the Choctawhatchee Bay. VisitFlorida states "Destin is "the world's luckiest fishing village" because the edge of the Continental Shelf -- the gathering place for blackfin tuna, grouper, amberjack, and king mackerel -- is just 20 miles offshore. "

Southwest Florida Fishing

Southwest Florida hits twice in the top 10 fishing towns in Florida with Naples and Cape Coral both making a showing. Fort Myers also shows on the full list at number 15. We have a tremendously diverse amount of places to fish from coastal, to deep water gulf, to the mangroves, the bays, it's incredibly extensive. But Florida isn't all just about coastline fishing, we have lakes. A lot of lakes. Some of best bass fishing lakes in the country.
