Lakers Are Frauds Following Dan Hurley Fiasco
The Lakers are frauds. Like Hollywood, the organization is all about show with no substance. Look no further than their recent fiasco where they attempted to lure Connecticut basketball coach Dan Hurley to Los Angeles.
First of all, the Lakers foolishly fired coach Darvin Ham this offseason after foolishly firing Frank Vogel (who won a title with them in 2020). Then they were reportedly close to hiring former player and current broadcaster JJ Redick to be their next coach. Redick reportedly pieced together a staff in anticipation of landing the job. It should also be noted that Redick never coached a game in his life, but LeBron James likes him so I guess that makes him ready to coach one of the highest profile teams in sports. (Note sarcasm here).

But the Redick story cooled fast because the Lakers made a run at UConn coach Dan Hurley fresh off his back to back NCAA championships. Last week we heard how the Lakers were putting together an offer that nobody could walk a way from. The offer turned out to be a 6 year deal for 70 million dollars. Sure that is life changing money for you and me. But it doesn’t crack the top 5 coaching contracts in the NBA. Even Monty Williams, the head coach of the lowly Detroit Pistons, has a bigger contract.
LAKERS ARE FRAUDS
The Lakers are frauds. They took the cheap path. They arrogantly thought that the Lakers name meant that anybody they offered a job to would automatically drop everything and move to LA. Wrong. As it turns out, Hurley and his wife love the northeast. And it was going to take a bigger contract than the Lakers offered. The Lakers coach should probably always be the top two or three highest paid guys in the league.
