Coffee Company Recognizes Florida As The ‘Shark Bite Capital Of The World’
Florida has once again retained it's "honor" of being the shark bite capital of the world with a reported 16 shark bites last year. According to Fox Weather, "That number represents 44% of the U.S. total and 23% of unprovoked bites around the world."
There were 69 unprovoked shark bites in the world last year. This according to data supplied by the Florida Museum. The U.S. had the most, with 16 of those occurring in Florida. There is a fortunate stat here, with 0 fatalities. Plus, the 16 bites is lower than Florida's 5 year average of 19.
The Shark Bite Capital Of The World
Of the 16 unprovoked shark bites in Florida last year, half of those came from one area. Volusia County, with New Smyrna Beach being the primary culprit. Sharks there have been known to bite surfers and waders alike. New Smyrna Beach is why Florida is the shark bite capital of the world.
Shark Bite Coffee
Bones Coffee of Cape Coral, Florida, with a wide range of coffee flavors with tie ins such as Star Wars and Fallout, has released Shark Bite Coffee, a nod to Florida's dubious title. According to their website, the Shark Bite coffee is described as "this delicious coffee infused with spiced, buttered rum flavor and roasted to a perfect medium, is ready for the season. The Shark Bite Coffee has returned as part of the Southwest Florida company's Summer Flavors. back for another attack.
The fact that Bones Coffee has a spiced buttered rum flavor is not lost on the fact that the company is located next to a rum distillery in Cape Coral, Florida. I'd love to see an official mash-up with those two. The Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery has an amazing Mango Rum. I wonder if they could make that happen?
Although I haven't tried any of these flavors, the Orange-Sickle catches my eye. Clearly it's modeled after the Orange Creamsicle ice cream treat which was a childhood favorite of mine. If you want to try any of these flavors, you can get them from their website, on Amazon, or at their store in Cape Coral.
