Fort Myers Film Festival Opens And Here's What To Expect

The festival celebrates independent filmmakers from all over the United States as well as around the world. A whopping 92 different films are being shown at a number of venues in Fort Myers and on Sanibel Island.

The films range from documentaries to comedies and everything in between. In addition, the ways you can view them vary. For instance, you can watch a single film or choose blocks.

The blocks are a great way to tackle a film festival. This is where you can view several films at a time. Often these films are grouped by genre which helps if you have a favorite.

Tickers are still available for the Sipping With The Stars Soiree tonight (May 22nd). A red-carpet reception that features many of the stars, producers and filmmakers begins the night. There will be fashion, Champagne toasts and more.

A short presentation is planned before the first film of the festival is shown. That film is “Hellbent on Boogie”. It was shot in Florida and features a young autistic girl as she pursues her dream to dance. The night wraps with a roof top party at the Sidney & Berne.

Tickets can still be purchased for tonight's VIP kick-off. As the Fort Myers Film Festival opens and continues through Sunday, you can click here for tickets and more information.
