The Miami Dolphins NFL Draft history is shaky at best. Sure, they lucked out for the best when Dan Marino fell to them at #27 in 1983. But imagine that for a moment. Marino! Barely making the first round! That was a year when Hall of Fame quarterbacks were falling out of the sky. They included John Elway, and Jim Kelly. There were also Hall of Famers like Eric Dickerson, Jim Covert, and Bruce Matthews who pushed Marino back. And that doesn't even included Darrell Green who was picked right after Marino.
Regarding the Dolphins NFL draft history, it is commonly thought that the best way to build a good team is through the draft. This week will be the first time the Dolphins have had a first round pick in three years. There was also a 5 year period from 1999-2003 that the Dolphins had only 1 first round pick. And let's not forget the years they missed on Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco!
