The Beauty Of Red Wine Blends For Holiday Food Pairings

Table set with wine glasses and white flowers

There is nothing typical about Christmas and Hanukah celebrations in Southwest Florida. We never see snow, and rarely have the cold weather that is signature to most of the country. In addition, the area is a melting pot. The foods found on tables around the area run the gamut.  This is where the beauty of red wine blends for holiday food pairings comes in.

Blends to wine makers are like a blank canvass and a pallet of paints to artists. Winemakers can mix and match small amounts of a wide variety of grapes to achieve a particular flavor profile, color, texture and balance. Because of this, red blends make fantastically versatile food wines. Perhaps you're not a fan of cabernet. However, when it is rounded out with merlot and spiced up with syrah, it could be that bullseye of flavors you're looking for.

Here are some red wine blends for holiday entertaining and for Wine Wednesday.
