Meet today's Villain, Esteban Perez, Jr. He's a 23-year-old Sarasota man who took a joyride in Collier County, only to be caught in a net of some BIG trouble. Now we're not talking about a speeding ticket or a fender-bender... We're talking about 987 fentanyl pills kind of trouble.
It all started when Perez made the bold decision not to hit the brakes when entering the road. Smooth move. Well, not really. The Collier County Sheriff's Office had other plans for Perez's unconventional road etiquette. They pulled him over, and that's when things took a sharp turn into the danger zone.
According to NBC-2, a deputy with a keen nose was sniffing around Perez's car like a detective on the scent of crime. The reason? The unmistakable aroma of marijuana was wafting through the air. Ah, the sweet smell of trouble.

But that was just the tip of the contraband iceberg because the thorough search uncovered a pharmacy on wheels. Fentanyl pills, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Name a party drug, and Perez seemed to have it stashed away for a rainy day. Oh, and let's not forget the synthetic cannabinoid and some narcotic paraphernalia for good measure.
But, here's a sobering thought, the FDA estimates that one kilogram of fentanyl can send 500,000 people to the great beyond. Perez, not one to shy away from breaking records, was found with 119.2 grams of fentanyl pills. That's enough to turn the lights out for approximately 60,000 eager partygoers.
Perez's joyride came to a screeching end as he faced a lineup of charges that read like a drug fueled comic book villain's criminal checklist. Trafficking in fentanyl and five additional felonies for his eclectic drug possession. Lesson learned, Mr. Perez... Next time you're on the road, maybe hit the brakes and leave the drug cocktails at home.
