How important is the meal you will receive at 30,000 feet when you book your flights? If it is a high priority, you may want to consider Delta for all your flights. USA Today's 10Best recently named Delta the best airline for food in the world.
For some airline companies, food and beverage options have become secondary amenities. In fact, passengers often only get just a bag of pretzels, peanuts on short-distance flights. However, now it appears certain global airlines are starting to take a different approach.
"Airplane food has long been an object of ridicule, but airlines have upped their culinary game (even in economy), with seasonal ingredients, destination-inspired menus, and even onboard chefs," USA Today's 10 Best explains.
In an effort to dig into the best food on aircrafts, this report identified which airlines are cooking up the most delicious and nutritious plates.
There Are Two American Airlines Ranked In The Top 10 For Food
Hawaiian Airlines ranked number five here. Their options are often native to the islands and inspired by local chefs. "We offer exquisite, island-inspired meals created by MW Restaurant Executive Chefs, Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr- Ueoka," Hawaiian Airlines states. Certain dishes are specific to first class, while others are selected depending upon your region. For example, flights on the west coast offer a roasted kabocha (Pumpkin) and garbanzo beans entrée. Furthermore, you can sip local brews from the Maui Brewing Company.
Delta Is The Number One Food Airline
Edging out Korean Air, Delta ranked as the best airline for food among all the major global players. "Meals aboard Delta Air Lines are reimagined every season, using ingredients from local artisans and farmers when possible," USA Today's 10Best states. Delta describes its menu as "a better dining experience" and "more options, more wholesome."
Delta tries to put a regional touch on many entrée items they serve. Certain meals are specific to first class travelers, while others are only on flights of 900 miles or more. These items include ginger beer-braised osso bucco, wild mushroom ravioli, chicken cacciatore and French bread pizza.
What other unique touches can you expect on board? Beverages from sustainable suppliers, kid's meals, and classic options from local restaurant partnerships are available on certain routes as well.
