Golden State’s Draymond Green suspended, again

Draymond Green

Golden State's Draymond Green suspended, again.  It's kind of like the old CBS series, "Murder, She Wrote".

The NBA announced late Tuesday night that Draymond Green will be suspended for Game 3 Thursday after stepping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest in Game 2.

This will be the second time in his career that Green will miss a playoff game, both of them due to a suspension. Green missed Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals after accumulating too many flagrant fouls that postseason.

He is the only player in the last 10 seasons to be suspended multiple times in the playoffs.  This was a big topic around the sports media world on Tuesday including on the Shemon and Sheppard Show.

Flashback to 2016

Golden State entered that Game 5 with a 3-1 series lead, but fell 112-97 before going on to lose the series.

Green’s presence was missed in Game 5 as the Cavaliers shot 53% from the floor, the highest field goal percentage the Warriors allowed that postseason.

The Warriors also shot 36%, their lowest that postseason and had a series-low 18 assists.

How about this year?

As far as this season goes, the Warriors were just 3-6 without Green in the lineup. Of those nine games, only one of them came when the Warriors had both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

On March 17 in Atlanta, the Warriors lost 127-119 to the Hawks with the Splash Brothers and without Green in the lineup.

The Warriors are 93-41 (.694) all-time in the postseason when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all play. The 93 playoff wins are tied for 3rd-most all-time by a trio.

On Thursday, the Warriors will look to avoid falling into a 3-0 series hole. The last time they trailed 3-0 in a best-of-7 series since the 1987 Conference Semifinals against the top-seeded Lakers (lost in 5 games).

There is no doubt that one of two things will happen here for Golden State due to Green's game 3 suspension.  It will either galvanize the Warriors or they are going miss his defensive presence big time and be down 3-zip in the series.

DRAYMOND GREEN RED ALERT

Red Alert Draymond Green !  One of my favorite radio segments on the Shemon and Sheppard Show on ESPN Southwest Florida is RED ALERT every Tuesday at 3:30ish! That's where we put people, teams or situations on BLAST because they deserve to be ripped. (I also like the missile launch sound effects that Chris plays from the other side of the glass!)

Common targets are prima danna athletes who are unaware of their social surroundings. It is our duty to point out their public deficiencies.

Other targets can be coaches who make bonehead decisions or team owners and general managers who drive their fans nuts. It is our job to set the world straight, at least during our ten minute segment.

Since we've been doing this segment for a while, I also enjoy how the texters like to add their nominations to the list.  Add your Red Alert via text at 239-337-ESPN.

Also, in case you are new to the show, RED ALERT blasts do NOT have to come from the world of sports. In fact, as of late, we like to close the segment by ALWAYS blasting Russian President Vladimir Putin just because. However, I should note that our show goes to painstaking lengths to avoid divisive politics at all costs.

Red Alert Draymond Green for starters! You made the list!  Let's see who else did!

So let's dial it up! Enjoy this week's RED ALERT!

1. ARIZONA CARDINALS

Kyler seems disinterested.
JJ Watt didn't want to play there anymore.
