Butter Knife Bandit Arrested in St. Petersburg: A Wild Spring Break Mistake.

Spring break is the time of year when college students flock to Florida to drink, party, and make poor life decisions. But according to The Smoking Gun, this tradition has now extended to middle-aged real estate executives from Missouri.

Meet Clifford Edwards, a 52-year-old man who decided to take a break from selling houses in Springfield to key someone's car in Florida. And not just any car, mind you, but a 2023 Nissan Altima. That's right, the car of the future is already being vandalized by time-traveling delinquents from the Midwest.

But how did Clifford do it, you ask? Did he use a crowbar? A hammer? A chainsaw? No, my friends, he used the deadliest weapon of all: a butter knife. That's right, a butter knife. If you're going to commit a felony, you might as well do it with some style and finesse.

Butter Knife Bandit:

When confronted by the car's owners, Clifford reportedly laughed and ran away like a kid who just TP'd his neighbor's house. But he didn't get very far, because the cops were able to track him down using the phone number he had left at the restaurant where he was dining. Talk about leaving a paper trail.

And what was Clifford's excuse for his criminal behavior? He claimed it was all just a "spring break mistake." Because, you know, keying someone's car is a totally normal and acceptable thing to do when you're on vacation.

In the end, Clifford was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief. His wife had to bail him out, which I'm sure made for an awkward conversation on the car ride home. But hey, at least he'll have a good story to tell at his next real estate conference. "So there I was, in Florida on spring break, and I decided to key a car with a butter knife..."
