NFL Players Association team report cards are in and the Washington Commanders get an "F". The NFL Players Association is taking a proactive approach to understanding how the teams are treating their players. Initial results shouldn't shock anyone. The Washington Commanders are at the bottom of the list.
Report Card Details
Categories include: treatment of families, food service/nutrition, weight room, strength coaches, training room, training staff, locker room and team travel.
Over 1,300 players responded, and that they were only asked to provide their opinions on their own teams. The survey covered eight topics and included 60 questions shows that the NFLPA took a thorough approach in evaluating the teams.
It's interesting to see that they took into account not just the on-field aspects of the teams, but also their overall operations and facilities.
Why did the Washington Commanders Get An "F"?
The Washington Commanders received particularly low marks in several categories, including treatment of families, training room, locker room, and team travel.
The "F" grade for treatment of families is especially concerning, as it suggests that the team is not doing enough to support its players' personal lives and well-being.
Who Knew?
It's surprising to hear that three teams do not provide dinners for players on workdays, as proper nutrition and fueling are critical for peak performance on the field.
Similarly, not providing first-class seats for players when they travel seems like it could negatively impact their comfort and recovery during long trips.
Having players room with teammates at hotels on road trips may be more common, but it's interesting to see that seven teams still employ this practice.
It's possible that some players may prefer this arrangement for team bonding purposes, while others may find it inconvenient or uncomfortable.
Awww Rats!!
It's alarming to hear that the Jacksonville Jaguars had to deal with a rodent problem for several weeks during the season, especially in a space as important as the locker room.
The fact that players reported seeing rats in the laundry hampers is particularly concerning, as it suggests that the problem was not contained to one area of the locker room.
It's unclear what measures, if any, the team took to address the rodent problem, but it's important for teams to take immediate action to ensure the health and safety of their players.
A's to F's
The Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders were ranked in the top three suggests that they are doing a lot of things right when it comes to supporting their players.
On the other hand, the fact that the Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, and Washington Commanders were ranked at the bottom suggests that these teams have a lot of work to do to improve their players' experiences.
