The 99th Annual Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair Opens Today In Fort Myers.

Ah, the county fair. The smell of fried food, the sound of carnival games, the sight of farm animals, and the screams of happiness coming from the rides. It's an experience that everyone should have at least once in their life. Even if just to remind them of the good old days.

The gates for the Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair open today at 4:00 pm and opening day is dollar day too. To get into the fair today is just $1 and rides are just $1 too (with a $10 minimum purchase).

There is lots of entertainment to enjoy from magic shows, animals from around the world, music, clowns, and more. Also demonstrations from a butter sculptor, a wood turner, a tinsmith, a blacksmith and pottery. You'll find a variety of competitions and livestock shows as well.

The Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair is located at the Lee County Civic Center on Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers and will run through March 5th. General gate admission for adults is $10, kids 4-11 are $6 and kids 3 and under are free. Retired and active military get in free daily with a military ID.

Making a list of the Florida Sate And Florida County Fair Schedule was on my calendar since early this year. That's when I realized the Charlotte County fair had already started. Guess I better get to it.

I'm a big fan of going to county fairs especially. Be it the demolition derby at the Collier County Fair, or the Moonlight Madness at the Lee County Fair. There's always something going on. And it's the one time of year I eat deep fried Oreos. Not sure why, but I need those. And you haven't lived until you ride the giant ferris wheel during Moonlight Madness. All those lights on the ground as you rotate up high into the dark sky. Magical.
