Florida Says Goodbye to Disney World's Splash Mountain.
It's the end of an era at Magic Kingdom in Orlando. This weekend marks the final opportunity for visitors to ride the beloved attraction, Splash Mountain. But fear not, dear theme park enthusiasts, for all is not lost. Disney has announced that Splash Mountain will be reimagined as Tiana's Bayou Adventure, based on the beloved 2009 animated film "The Princess and the Frog."
For those unfamiliar with the film, it features Disney's first Black princess, Tiana, and tells the story of her journey to fulfill her dreams and find true love. And while Splash Mountain's overhaul to Tiana's Bayou Adventure begins on Monday, according to Disney World's website, the new, reimagined ride is set to open in late 2024.

Now, you may be wondering why Disney made the decision to overhaul the beloved attraction. Well, Twitter of course! Okay, the truth is, Splash Mountain was originally based on the 1946 Disney film "Song of the South.," The film has been criticized for its portrayal of racial stereotypes. And let's face it, in a world where cancel culture reigns supreme, Disney had no choice but to give in to the pressure and change it up. But hey, at least now we can all pretend we're in a Disney film while we wait in line for an hour.
And for those of you who live in California, don't worry, Disney will change it for you too. Splash Mountain at Disneyland will also become Tiana's Bayou Adventure. However, a final closing date for that attraction, which opened in 1989, has not been set yet. We'll just have to wait and see when we can all go on a journey through Tiana's bayou.
