Governor DeSantis Announces The Completion Of The Temporary Bridge To Pine Island In Southwest Florida
This is absolutely incredible. The idea that Pine Island would be connected again to the rest of Southwest Florida via a temporary bridge by next Monday is just staggering. What’s even more, it looks like they’re ahead of schedule. How about Wednesday (today!)If you’re unfamiliar with the condition of the road after the hurricane, NBC2 provided this video showing the scope of the damage:
It looks totally different now. Gov. Ron DeSantis was in Matlacha today to announce that the bridge would be open to residents this afternoon. Several days ahead of schedule. This will allow Southwest Florida Pine Island residents access to get the things they need. Equally important is that it will allow crews onto the island to begin repairs to the infrastructure. During his speech he also announced a timeframe to the completion of temporary repairs on the causeway to allow road access to Sanibel. BY THE END OF THE MONTH. There's so much to do here in Southwest Florida but I'm so encouraged by what has already been done. Here's some pictures from today's event:
