Five Year Anniversary Of Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma photo

Saturday marks the five year anniversary of Hurricane Irma. The storm was a monster. A strong category five for much of it's journey to Southwest Florida. It was so large, not one area of the state was spared from it's wind and rain.

The Florida Keys were devastated. Some areas have still not recovered. Irma hit there at a cat 4 but had weakened to a category 3 by the time it slammed into Marco Island and cat 2 as it continued into Southwest Florida.

The storm killed more than 100 people in the islands from Barbuda, to Cuba, Haiti, U.S. Virgin Islands and more. It was the most devastating storm to hit Florida, causing over $50 billion in damages. The anxiety it caused so many was unparalleled as it wobbled and teased us as to the path it would eventually take.
