Johnny Depp Joins TikTok, Makes First Video Thanking Supporters

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp takes a break during his trial at a Fairfax County Courthouse on May 27, 2022 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Johnny Depp has been celebrating his court victory in the defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in the UK. Today (June 7), the actor and musician created a TikTok account and before the day's end has acquired 5 million followers.

A few hours later, he made his first TikTok -- a compilation of clips of fans that showed support for his trial as well as some clips performing in the UK alongside rock legend Jeff Beck. He captioned the video, "To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD."

His bio simply reads: "Occasional Thespian."

Johnny Depp  won his defamation case against Amber Heard, who was countersuing him in Virginia today, June 1. Depp was awarded $15 million in damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million.

Depp sued Heard for defamation for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Though Depp was not named in the article, he claims it cost him lucrative acting roles. Heard countersued for $100 million, over statements Depp's attorney made about her abuse claims.

The defamation trial has been underway since April and jurors have heard over 100 hours of testimony altogether.
