During their spring game, the University Of Central Florida (UCF) football team showed off their new jerseys with a QR Code where a number would usually be. The link on the code sends viewers to the players' backgrounds online, merchandise stores, social media accounts and charities of choice. Each player had a unique QR code.
Last year, the UCF Knights kept the numbers on the back of their jerseys but instead of last names the opted for for Twitter handles.
Judging by the pictures, they showed the QR codes on the Jumbo Tron as well. According to The Verge, the QR Code jerseys are only for the spring game and won't be worn during the season. I do like the innovative ways UCF promotes their players.
