Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity confirmed its reemployment assistance system was recently impacted in a "data security incident," according to WESH2 News.
Users who were impacted by the incident would have quickly received a notification, according to the DEO press secretary.
It's unclear when the data breach happened and what information was compromised. The department said it has not received any reports of malicious activity so far.
The department tweeted a reminder on Wednesday clarifying that a representative from the DEO will never ask you for your PIN number, debit card number, or direct deposit information.
