It's almost time for the big game on Sunday, Feb. 2.
It's a time where friends and family get together to cheer for their favorite team and celebrate with a football party! But big events don't have to equal big spending.
Just because you're not making millions like the players and coaches on the team, because let's face it most of us aren't, doesn't mean you can't have an epic party!
Here are a few hacks on how to throw the best party without breaking the bank.
B.Y.O.B.
Beer, wine, cocktails... alcohol can easily be the most expensive component of your party. For this reason, it's best to ask your guests to bring their own beverage of choice. This way you can use those dollars elsewhere and your guest is guaranteed to have their favorite drink on hand.
Host a potluck
Prepare a few items yourself and ask each of your friends to bring their favorite football dish. A good tip is sending out a group text and asking people to reply with what their bringing to avoid duplication and to help you keep better track of what you'll need the day of.
Order pizza
You can't ever go wrong with pizza! There's a big chance that most pizza places will be offering a great deal so you don't have to spend a fortune on multiple pies. Check out Living on the Cheap for the latest deals and freebies from national retailers and restaurants.
Hit up your local dollar store
From plastic cups and plates to serving utensils, the dollar store is the ideal place to purchase inexpensive decorations. You can even pick up a few streamers, pom-poms and tablecloths in the color of your favorite team.
Print your own party games
Don't spend any money on party games because between the game, the halftime show and commercials, there won't be much time for additional entertainment. If you really want to go the extra mile, go online and print a few Big Game Bingo cards or come up with a few football trivia questions. You could even hand-make little trophies out of food.
