The Lakers Still Suck

The Lakers Still Suck LeBron James

The Lakers still suck. After a disappointing 2021/22 season, the purple & golf opened up their 2022/23 campaign with more of the same: poor shooting. The 123-109 loss to Golden State last night saw the Lakers take 40 3-pointers making only 10 of them. That is 25% for those of you who are bad mathletes. 25%!!! This is a team that hit under 35% from beyond the arch last season. LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook are not helping anything. The team shot 25% from 3 last night, and the 3 leading scorers show 25% from 3. They just don't help. This roster is just not in a position to win this season. Just like last season. Putting this team on the same court as the Golden State Warriors shows the Lakers shortcomings. Golden State shot 35% from 3 last night, and 2.5% better from the floor. Los Angeles couldn't even flex their muscle in this game. They were outrebounded by 1. The Lakers still suck.

I don't know how this gets better. Russell Westbrook is an early 2000's guard playing in a 2020's game. LeBron is still very good. However he is now older and can't be relied on to carry the scoring load every single quarter. And then we get to Anthony Davis. AD was supposed to take the reigns from LeBron when he showed up in LA. He needs to turn into that guy if the Lakers are going anywhere this season. What is so perplexing is this team is just a few seasons off an NBA title. Some joke about the championship being "Micky Mouse", but they did win it all. That team had shooters and role players. This version of the Lakers do not.
