College football is back! Week 0 is nice for college football fans, but it’s the appetizer for week 1. No disrespect to Nebraska and Northwestern, but when that’s the matchup that headlines the weekend, it’s not a great slate. Even college Gameday did their show remotely, which was very lame for the record. For most college football fans, week 1 historically gives us Power-5 schools against G5 or even FCS opponents. Over the last decade or so that has changed. We will rank the best college football games of week 1. We seemingly get top-5 matchups every year, and this year is no different. Fifth ranked Notre Dame goes to Columbus to take on Ohio State at the Horseshoe. The Sunday night and Labor day night games are not as top heavy as some previous years, but LSU and FSU are pretty evenly matched for Sunday night’s game, but the Clemson Georgia Tech game on Monday night leave a lot to be desired.
Something that we get every year in week 1 is the best part of cfb the upsets. And week 1 gives us some regional matchups that could lead to an big time upset. I’m looking at NC State going on the road to East Carolina, Pitt hosting West Virginia, and Friday night Old Dominion is a live home dog hosting Virginia Tech. Upsets, blowouts, nail biters, and game winners. All the things that come with college football, and a full slate for the first time this year. Let’s get to the best college football games of week 1.
