I have an interesting history with auto racing. I grew up in Indianapolis and went to the Indy 500 every year as a kid. I was a big fan of open wheel racing in its heyday. I saw the greats like AJ Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, the Unders and Mario Andretti. Then USAC and CART, the organizing body of auto racing went threw a nasty divorce and ruined the sport before the Indy Racing League was formed. During this time, NASCAR was kind of a regional southern sport. But not for long. By the early 2000’s it was unstoppable in its growth and popularity. At the time, I was working for FOX Sports so I covered the sport a great deal. I got to know some of the drivers and had amazing access behind the scenes. I even drove a car at Daytona!
All of that aside, let’s do NASCAR trivia on Wiki-Pete-ia on Shemon and Sheppard’s ESPN Southwest Florida.
